Caitlyn and Luke came from Texas with 8 of their family members for their fall wedding at San Sophia Overlook in Telluride, CO. They had a beautiful mountain top ceremony followed with an intimate reception and private dinner at a family home. Caitlyn truly described it best in her Instagram caption, “. . .10 of us climbed up a mountain, while others joined in spirit. We said forever, danced to Jack Johnson and ate our weight in fettuccine. It will forever by my favorite night with my favorite human.”
Caitlyn and Luke grew up with each other and kept connecting over the years. As adults they share the sentiment of “it has always been you.” They got engaged in March of 2022 and started planning their wedding. Family is most important to Caitlyn and Luke, so they chose to plan a destination wedding in Colorado with 8 of their most dear family members. A week after their Colorado wedding they had a big party reception to celebrate with the rest of their friends and family in San Antonio.
The bride asked for one thing from her late Dad for her wedding day-great weather on top of the mountain. On Tuesday, October 4 in Telluride, Caitlyn and Luke said “I do” with the best weather and peak fall colors around them. Rain had been in the forecast for days and there was not one drop! Caitlyn’s Dad certainly delivered and made sure they had the best weather for their day! In his honor, the bride and her mom represented him with a Rosemary bunch with a ribbon tied around it.
For their wedding arch, New Leaf Designs, put together a beautiful arch with a mix of orange and blush dahlias and other blooms. Caitlyn chose orange flowers because they’re the color of happy and I couldn’t agree more! After their wedding ceremony and photos at the top of the mountain, everyone headed to the home of the groom’s father for the reception. With the sounds of the Telluride String duo filling the air, they enjoyed cocktails and mingling on the patio. When it came time for dinner, Chef Patrick Laguens, wowed everyone with a delicious five course meal! Their planner, By Sutton, made planning a destination wedding in Colorado all the way from Texas possible!
San Sophia Overlook is a wedding venue in Telluride, CO at Telluride Ski Resort. It’s known for the breathtaking backdrop of the mountains it provides every ceremony. To reach the overlook, everyone takes a gondola ride to the top and a short walk leads you to the ceremony spot. Caitlyn and Luke had a brief ceremony at the top with where they exchanged their vows and said “I do.” Everyone grabbed a glass of champagne to toast to the couple following the ceremony. Afterwards, we took their wedding portraits on the wedding deck and in the open space nearby.
San Sophia Overlook isn’t the only venue Telluride Resort offers. Gorrono Ranch and Palmyra Lookout also have incredible views. You really can’t go wrong with any venue in Telluride!
I love everything about this wedding so much! Caitlyn and Luke are the sweetest and it’s always so special to work with couples who deeply value their family. I’m so thankful to have captured their mountain top wedding in Telluride!
