I woke up yesterday to Evergreen’s first snow. It was beautiful and majestic as the large snowflakes fell softly on the tall evergreen trees. I love when it snows in the fall and the contrast of the snow against the yellow, orange and red leaves reveals grandeur beauty. As I looked out the window and saw the huge snowflakes falling it brought me back to Sarah and Erik’s romantic winter wedding at Della Terra Chateau.
Winter weddings are gorgeous! …Especially in Colorado among the majestic Rocky Mountains in Estes Park! And the way it snowed, it snowed just like that the day before their wedding day and left a beautiful fresh layer of sparkly white snow for their ceremony.
It was cold, but the romance of Sarah and Erik’s wedding day kept us warm. Like a true Colorado couple, their ceremony was outside among the feet of snow and tall evergreen trees. It was perfect! You never know what Colorado weather will bring you in January, but they were blessed with the perfect snowy weather. And what a better way to start a new year by expressing their true love for each other in front of their family and friends.
They were married January 14th at the Della Terra Chateau, one of the most romantic venues in Estes Park. One of my favorite parts of their day was their first look. Sarah was so sweet and cried tears of happiness all the way down the stairs to see her handsome groom for the first time. She had a tissue in her hand most of the day because today was her day and it was her turn to marry the love of her life. Ahhh it is just so romantic thinking about it!
Her bouquet was so gorgeous!! It was wintery, yet feminine! Filled with roses and succulents and pinecones and the pine needles gave it a fresh Colorado winter scent. And her dress was lacey with the perfect sweetheart neckline accented by simple and soft jewelry.
This was the third time I had been around the same family! I photographed two other weddings within the family and each time they welcomed me into their own with open arms. This family is my family. These are my people: soft, sweet, kind, and genuine. I love watching their marriages grow and their families grow bigger and bigger.
Sarah + Erik, I wish you the best!! I wish for your marriage to be blessed for years and years to come. I can’t wait to see you hold hands at 80 and say “We Made It!”
